Positano is a coastal village on Italy's spectacularly beautiful Amalfi Coast. This village is one of the most naturally stunning in the world, with its sparkling beaches, iconic cliff sides, tasty local dishes, and vibrant nightlife. About Positano
Positano is far more than a travel destination. It's a feast for the eyes, where the lush colors of the Amalfi Coast and the vibrant tableau of painted buildings built into craggy cliffs create a memorable experience.
The steeply stacked houses seem to defy gravity, a kaleidoscope of peach, pink, and terracotta cascading into the cobalt waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The entire town is built into the cliffs, so no matter where you want to go, you'll need to wander, climb, or descend stairs. The Santa Maria Assunta church marks the middle of the downtown, as well as cultural life for locals. From Positano, it is easy to travel by ferry to other small villages as well. With its rich palette, it's not hard to see why Positano is a jewel of Italy and an emblem of Mediterranean beauty.
Remarkably, it was part of the Republic of Amalfi during the 9th-11th centuries. During the 10th century, when Positano was at its peak, it rivaled Venice as one of the most important mercantile metropolises in the world. This isn't difficult to believe, considering Positano played an integral role in writing the first maritime laws.
Unfortunately, its importance didn't last, and it faced economic decline for centuries. Despite this decline and near ruin, it has captivated the hearts of dreamers and adventurers for centuries. Still, it wasn't until the 1950s that Positano became a popular traveling destination and again began to grow.
Fortunately, ever since, it has grown exponentially from a fishing village into a pedestrian town with fashionable resorts, inviting restaurants, and numerous eye-grabbing attractions and fun activities. It is now a perfect example of how spectacular a village can be if it successfully blends natural beauty and cultural richness. Positano and the other towns on the Amalfi Coast have even been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites for these very reasons.

Keep essentials like sunscreen, comfortable shoes, a light jacket, an umbrella, and bottled water close at hand. Each of these items could come in handy as you tour the countryside and stop along the way before you get to Positano.
Book with a private transfer service

Positano has become an international hotspot, so some world-class venues have popped up to cater to the jet-set. Music On The Rocks is maybe the most unique nightclub in town. The club is fun with its pumping tunes, vibrant atmosphere, and memorable structureтАФthis is because Music On The Rocks is quite literally on the rocks, with the club in a cave! It's the only "true" nightlife option for those wanting to do more than relax at very chill bars in the town.
Visit the beaches
Positano has more than one beach, making it a dream destination for beach lovers. When you visit, you'll get to tour numerous beaches, relax on the sand, or go for a dip in the ocean. Transfer from Rome to Positano w/Pompeii -> Positano to Naples
тАЬMy husband and I think the service offered by Daytrip is very handy. Their online platform is super intuitive and easy to use and the option of adding extra day trips was great. We did Pompeii. We used service for the long drive from Rome to Positano, then another trip from Positano to Naples airport. Both of our drivers were on time and the experience met our expectation. The confirmation emails they sent ahead of time with the drivers photos and names were appreciated. It took one less worry out of an activity packed trip. We will definitely make use of their services again next time we travel.тАЭ
тАЬWe used Daytrip twice on our recent trip to Italy. Once to travel from Rome to Positano with a stop in Pompeii and the second from Positano to Naples. Both trips were perfect. Driver was on time, prepared, friendly and helpful. In Pompeii we did a tour so our driver helped us connect with the tour guide and then waited the two hours and met us to continue the trip. Alberto was terrific. For the second trip we had Pasquale, who was also terrific. On time, helped with all the luggage, told us about the sights we drove by, made an unplanned stop for us and got us to our destination on time without any problems. We also made a few changes to our plans and the people at Daytrip were responsive and very helpful. I would highly recommend Daytrip.тАЭ
Trip from rome to Positano with stop at Herculeum
тАЬMy husband and two adult children and I had a wonderful experience with Antonio. He picked us up at our hotel in Rome and was very prompt. He discussed the itenirary with us and the length of the drive. We had booked a stop off at Herculeum which we did, but we also made another stop at a lovely vineyard at the base of Mount Vesuvius for lunch and wine tasting. We were transported in a large van which was very comfortable. All and all a very enjoyable experience.тАЭ
No Stress Ride From Positano to Rome
тАЬWe decided to use Daytrip for a private transfer from our hotel in Positano to the airport in Rome. We had to be at the airport around 9 am and coming over from Rome to Positano my husband and I took 2 trains and a bus (with luggage) to get to Positano. It took roughly 6 hours. We can't stress enough how our trip back to Rome using Daytrip made such a difference. Our driver Eduardo was at our hotel at 4 am and drove us to Rome and dropped us off at the airport in Rome stress free. No worries with luggage. The car was clean, Eduardo was very polite and friendly and made the the 3 hour drive enjoyable. I would definately spend the money to use a transfer again in the future. Thanks Eduardo and Daytrip!тАЭ
Great Value, Great Customer Service and Driver
тАЬMy group used two driving services for a recent trip in Italy, between Rome and Positano. Both services had very good drivers and transportation (cars, comfort, driving quality, knowledgable drivers) but I believe My Day Trip stood out in comparison. The cost was lower (by $200+) and the office staff was most helpful when I made a mistake in double-booking. They were quick to resolve with prompt communication. I will seek My Day Trip in future transports between European cities.тАЭ
Drive from Positano to Rome via Pompeii
тАЬWe wanted an easy way to get from Positano to Rome, visiting Pompeii on the way. This company allowed us to customise the drive, and was very organised. Confirmation was efficient and communication was clear. Our driver Antonio was helpful, and gave us some history and information along the way. A very nice way to get from place to place with no stress. Our 2.5 hour stop at Pompeii was perfect. I would recommend this as an option.тАЭ
