About Prague
Traveling from Salzburg to Prague, you'll be among the eight million who visit the beautiful "city of a hundred spires" each year. Prague is the wondrous capital of the Czech Republic, which lies in the bustling heart of Europe. It is one of the finest cities on the European continent, so it's not hard to see why it has so many visitors annually.
When you visit Prague, you can expect to witness the rich architectural history that oozes from the many grand churches, palaces, castles, and homes lining the streets and countryside. The historic architecture aptly reflects the tumultuous history the city has experienced over the last 1,000 years, with numerous styles from Gothic to Baroque represented both inside and outside of its UNESCO-listed Old Town.
Besides the awe-inspiring architectural wonders, visitors to Prague should expect to be impressed by the many physical landmarks and attractions Prague has to offer. For example, visit the Vltava River and walk across the Charles Bridge, which has stood astride this river since the 15th century. In the backdrop, the magnificent Prague Castle dominates the city from its hilltop perch.
Once you've explored Prague's numerous castles and charming bridges, you can learn more about the city's culture. Attend any of the concerts hosted throughout the year or the spring music festival, which commemorates the lyric music of great Czech composers like Anton├нn Dvo┼Щ├бk, Bed┼Щich Smetana, Leo┼б Jan├б─Нek, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Although Mozart might not have been Czech, he did live in Prague, and his Don Giovanni and Prague Symphony were first performed in this illustrious city.
Music-aside, if you love wandering through narrow streets, trying street food, and enjoying a pint or two among friends and family, Prague is paradise. This city has taverns and restaurants galore in its older quarters, with charming storefronts and interiors that make it seem like you've stepped back in time.

They'll also be able to give you insider tips on what to do in Prague all while ensuring you have an exciting and stress-free travel experience.
Leave early
The Prague you visit in the early morning hours is very different from the version of the city you see when tourists have flooded the streets and main attractions. Leaving Salzburg early so you can get to exploring Prague ASAP. And if you're planning on sightseeing on your ride from Salzburg to Prague, leaving early gives you more time for this, while still getting you to Prague with time to spare. Starting your days early in Prague is also a great idea - there are fewer people around at sunrise, so you can see the true beauty of popular public spaces like Charles Bridge or Old Town Square.
Choose the scenic route

With a car service like Daytrip, you can ask to take the scenic route or request the route you would like to take by adding stops along the way. How to get from Salzburg to Prague
If you're trying to figure out how to get from Salzburg to Prague and have been scratching your head because there doesn't seem to be any direct way to travel between these beautiful European cities, don't worry! You'll find all your transportation options outlined below, including that direct option you've been praying for!
From Salzburg to Prague by train
Unfortunately, there is no direct train trip from Salzburg to Prague. So when you book an Austrian Federal Railways train, you should expect to make one or more transfers.
The most common route is to take a train from Salzburg Hbf train station to the Linz Hbf train station. Once here, you'll change trains to head to the Praha Hlavni Nadrazi train station in Prague. The trip takes between 5 and 7 hours depending on which train you take.
Typically, the train ride will cost between 60 euros and 230 euros, depending on the train carrier you choose and the time you book. The earliest train leaves at 5:11 AM. If you take a late afternoon trip, try to be on a high-speed train at night so you don't arrive in Prague too late.
From Salzburg to Prague flight
There are no direct flights from Salzburg to Prague. You can take a high-speed night train from Salzburg to Munich and then book a flight from Munich to Prague, or take the high-speed train from Salzburg to Vienna and then fly to Prague. Either way, tickets will be between 180-600 euros per person, and with a total travel time of at least 7 hours including the 2 hours for check-in and security, this is the slowest way to get from Salzburg to Prague.
From Salzburg to Prague by bus
One of the best ways to travel from Salzburg to Prague if you're on a budget is to take the bus. Flixbus is the only bus carrier that makes the trip between these two cities; usually, only two to four buses leave daily. The earliest bus leaves at 4:50 AM, and the last bus leaves at 3:00 PM. Tickets usually cost about 30 euros per person.
However, the downside to traveling by bus is that not only can it be uncomfortable, but multiple stops might slow you down. For example, while some Flixbus trips take five and a half hours when driving directly to get to Prague, others take almost ten hours if the bus stops in Munich and requires a bus change.
From Salzburg to Prague by Daytrip private car service

Along the way, you can chat about local culture or things to do when you get to Prague.
Along with being the only direct way to get from Salzburg to Prague, DaytripтАЩs private car service is also the most enriching since you can stop for sightseeing! There are historic castles, the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Hallstatt and Cesky Krumlov, and Mauthausen, a little-known Nazi death camp, for an unmissable and moving history lesson.
Things to do when you get to Prague
Prague has no shortage of things to do, considering it is one of the most visually striking cities in the world. So, it can be difficult to narrow down the list and choose a few attractions to visit when in Prague. Luckily, we have you covered if you travel from Salzburg to Prague. Have a look below to learn a few of the best things to do when visiting.
Prague Castle
You cannot visit Prague without exploring the ninth-century Prague Castle. Over the years, the successive string of Czech kings, emperors, and presidents have expanded it into the largest castle complex in the world. Since this castle is large, itтАЩs impossible to explore every nook and cranny in a few hours. It's best to plan in advance what areas of the castle you would like to visit most, or just plan to spend a whole day here! Along with checking out the Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral at the heart of the castle, we recommend visiting St George's Basilica, the quaint tiny houses of Golden Lane, and the well-tended landscapes of the South Gardens if you only have a few hours to spare.
Old Town Square
The Old Town Square is the heart of Prague's UNESCO-listed Old Town and another must-do in Prague. ItтАЩs centered around the Church of Our Lady Before T├╜n, which is said to have been an inspiration for Hogwarts. The 15th-century astronomical clock on the side of the church marks every hour with its тАЬThe Walk of the ApostlesтАЭ clockwork display. This makes it really easy to keep track of time in the square - just watch for a growing crowd!
Panoramic views from Pet┼Щ├нn Hill
Walk or take the funicular up Pet┼Щ├нn Hill from the Ujezd tram stop for one of the best views of Prague. The hilltop is punctuated by Pet┼Щ├нn Tower, a miniature of the Eiffel Tower (locals like to boast that it's actually taller than the Eiffel Tower...since it's on top of a hill). Climb to the top for an even better vantage of the city.
Modern vibes: Hole┼бovice and Karl├нn
Most people donтАЩt come to Prague for contemporary culture, but the hip districts of Karl├нn and Hole┼бovice are well worth exploring. These areas have some of the best caf├йs in Europe, where you can sip your coffee to live electronic music or browse private art exhibitions. Hole┼бovice also has some great museums, including the DOX Center for Contemporary Art, and the National Gallery Prague, the countryтАЩs largest art museum.
Wenceslas Square
Want to be in the middle of Prague's hustle and bustle? Head to Wenceslas Square. This square has immense historical value to the city of Prague, considering it has hosted some of the city's most important historical moments, including huge protests.
It's also home to the famous St Wenceslas statue, which is backdrop-worthy for pictures, and there are many shops and cafes to explore. If you want to explore the area's full potential, you should book a guided walking tour.
Passage Lucerna
Despite being a short walk from Wenceslas Square, Passage Lucerna is one of the best things
to do in Prague for a 20th-century throwback. If you're a fan of David ─Мern├╜'s, Passage Lucerna should be high on your list. Hanging in the atrium is one of his most controversial sculptures тАУ Saint Wenceslas riding an upside-down horse.
Besides this interesting sculpture, the Passage Lucerna is also home to a collection of shops, a charming old cinema, an early 1900s-style cafe, a rooftop summer bar, and a music bar that hosts an 80s and 90s party every weekend for those feeling nostalgic. And tucked to one side, another of PragueтАЩs oddities - the paternoster lift aka the тАЬelevator of deathтАЭ.
When is the best time to visit Prague
Typically, the best time to visit Prague is spring and early fall, with temperatures remaining in the mid-50s to upper 60s. During these seasons, the weather is pleasant and mild, there are fewer crowds to contend with, and accommodation prices are usually cheaper. However, this doesn't mean you can't visit during the summer. You just have to be prepared for temperatures in the high 70s, huge crowds, and high hotel rates.
Prague is also worth visiting during Christmas if you don't mind the cold тАУ and potentially snow тАУ and can handle walking around in temperatures that don't rise above the mid-30s. Starting in late November, Christmas markets fill nearly every public space in Europe with food stands and festivities. And Prague's Old Town Square Christmas Market is one of the best!

First time using service; very happy with them!
тАЬGreat service. Good Communion with driver, clean car. It was our first time using this service so we were kind of unsure what to expect but it turned out great. Driver was nice and friendly, clean car. Took the car from Salzburg to Prague with a stop in Chesky Krumlov (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). Would recommend the service to othersтАЭ
тАЬEverything about the daytrip experience was excellent. Jan S. was the perfect driver/guide for our trip from Salzburg to Prague. We were picked up at our hotel in Salzburg and delivered to our hotel in Prague. The conversation was pleasant and informative as we drove through the countryside. He made our two hour stopover in Cesky Krumlov extra special. We would certainly reccommend this service and Jan S as a driver.тАЭ
тАЬSo far we have had two journeys, Prague to Salzburg and Zell am See to Lucerne. Both trips have been luxury cars and the journeys have been fantastic. The convenience of door to door service is brilliant. No trudging baggage to the train, bus or airport and not having to check in, load baggage find seat etc. For those that travel by train and go first class with flexibility, the luxury class using mydaytrips have been about the same price. Great service and will always use them. ЁЯШКтАЭ
тАЬWe had an excellent trip from Prague to Salzburg with stops on the way. Our tour guide/driver Mike was exceptional! We plan to use Daytrip again in the future based on this positive experience.тАЭ

Awesome road trip Salzburg to Prague
тАЬWe decided to go with day trip when traveling between Salzburg and Prague so we could see some of the cool places along the way. The car was nice and clean and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. His name was Marek and he provided great insight to the area and had awesome recommendations. We got to see a different part of the countryside we would have missed via train. Highly recommended!тАЭ
Convenient service, friendly driver
тАЬWe used the service from Salzburg to Prague, with a stop off at Cesky Krumlov and another castle on the way. The car arrived punctually, and was clean and well equipped with water and some beverages. Our driver, Marian, was super friendly, and made the trip a lot more fun. He joined us at Cesky Krumlov, showing us around and taking pics, and suggested a place for lunch. We also got stuck in the traffic outside Prague, but he knew a few shortcuts, and helped us get to Prague in time. Overall, I would definitely use this service next time.тАЭ
тАЬWe used Daytrip to go from Prague to Salzburg and back. On the way there we stopped at Hallstatt and St. Gilgen. Guide spoke great English and was accommodating. On the return trip we stopped in Cesky Krumlov. That guide gave us a walking tour of the town and ate with us at a nice waterfront restaurant. We then spent several hours wandering. Would recommend a minimum of 4 hours in Cesky Krumlov. Guides were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Great way to go from 1 city to another, highly recommend.тАЭ
