Cu Chi Tunnels

The Viet Cong’s not-so-secret weapon against US forces was this seemingly infinite network of dark, narrow tunnels.

About

The Cu Chi Tunnels are a 75-mile-long stretch of the massive subterranean network dug by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Covering much of the country, this sprawling network of booby-trapped tunnels gave the Viet Cong an advantage over the US’ superior firepower. The caves proved such a nuisance, that the US took to carpet bombing entire swaths of land to try to disrupt them. Today, visitors can squirm through safer sections of tunnel get an idea about the life of a Viet Cong soldier, see typical booby traps and weapons, and learn more about the war. Above ground, along with the expected souvenir vendors and caged monkeys, you can step up to a shooting range to fire assault rifles like the M16 or AK-47, or a light machine gun like the M60.
