France
Focused on fine arts and production, this unique museum is housed in a converted swimming pool.
La Piscine stands for a "swimming pool" in French. The facility, built in 1925 in a beautiful art deco style, was closed in 1985. Rather than let the stunning structure got to waste, it was remodeled, and opened as a museum in 2000. Today, the museum houses a permanent exhibition of fabrics encompassing ethnographic themes which trace their origins all the way to 1835. Besides this collection, the museum also has on display various other artifacts, ranging from ceramics to fine art. Before scheduling your visit, please check the museum's opening hours at http://www.visitlilles.com/en/heritage-and-culture/museums/EN/51/la-piscine.
