According to legend, Schloss Lenzburg was built by two knights, Wolfram and Guntram, after they defeated a dragon living in the hillside - official records, however, date it to the 11th century. Over the course of the castle’s 1000-year history, it changes ownership frequently, but was always held by the upper echelons of society. Today, the castle is an impressive architectural ensemble, allowing visitors to see everything from Gothic to Baroque style in one place. Inside, visitors will find a variety of exhibits explained in detail on a guided tour, which range from medieval life to knights and nobility - there’s even a dragon research station! Outside, visitors can enjoy a quiet stroll through the gardens while admiring the varied architectural styles and fantastic panoramic views.
