High in the Atacama, the Mirador de Kari overlooks a barren landscape filled with stone and sand formations etched into intricate textures over millennia of wind and water. Dry lakes dusted with salt deposits just add to the sense of timeless desolation. Known as the “Valley of the Moon” for its bleak landscape, the rusty rocks give us a more Martian, but who are we to argue? Regardless of its planetary parallel, you’ll still get an out-of-this-world view from atop the Mirador de Kari. The vista is especially popular at sunset when visitors line up to see the dead stones painted in warm hues.
