Nacapule Canyon

This family-friendly hike nestled in the heart of San Carlos leads to an exquisite final water hole known as “ojo”, offering a paradise for outdoor explorers.

About

Nacapule Canyon remains a hidden gem not far from the coastal paradises, a place where the desert's rugged charm meets the serene allure of a lush oasis. The initial part of the hike is relatively easy, gradually progressing to a moderate level, which may require navigating boulders, ascending loose rock hills, and even venturing through a tunnel in the rocks. Beyond the ojo, the path becomes more challenging, demanding the occasional rock scramble. The narrow canyon path is flanked by towering rock walls and verdant palm trees, while the cliffs boast cacti like ocotillo, cholla, and barrel cacti. The transition from pinkish sandstone to deep rust in the rock formations, set against the vivid blue sky, creates a breathtaking tableau. While wandering in this natural wonderland, you might encounter a rich tapestry of wildlife, from frogs, lizards, and squirrels to tarantulas and striking insects. The entrance fee is a modest 50 pesos.
