Be immersed in German history and culture in this small historic town where German immigrants settled, well-known for its beautiful city center decorated with flowers.
Nova Petropolis, a town in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, was founded in the 19th Century by German immigrants which as a result gave the town a unique appearance and culture. Walking around you will be met with the sights of traditional German half-timbered houses, the smells of sizzling Bratwurst in the air, and the sounds of German being spoken by locals. German culture culminates at the Immigrants Village, opened in 1985 to preserve the history and culture of the German immigrants where you can find more traditional houses and an informative history museum. Nova Petropolis is also renowned for its floral displays, no more so than at Praca das Flores, where you can admire the colorful and fragrant flowers that bloom over one hectare of the city center. Finish your visit at one of the restaurants offering German cuisine, or the Edelbrau Brewery for a refreshing craft beer.
