France
With it’s variety of jaw-dropping historical shows, this amazing theme park doesn’t need rides to thrill visitors.
Puy du Fou was founded in 1977 when French politician Philippe de Villiers was still a student. Starting with the original show "Cinéscénie", the amusement park has grown to include 26 spectacular shows and become of of the most popular theme parks in France. The park’s buildings span French history, from a medieval fort to early 20th century village, and the dramatic shows go back even further. Visitors can take a seat in a Gallo-Roman stadium to see gladiators, witness a Viking ship full of warriors magically rise from a lake, or witness the Knights of the Round Table meet with Merlin and King Arthur. However, the mainstay is still the night-time Cinéscénie, which sees 1,200 actors take to the world’s largest stage to reenact 700 years of the area’s history...with the aid of 800 fireworks.
