Pay your respects to the miraculous Madonna housed in this Pueblo Magico’ beautiful Baroque church.
Originally an indigenous settlement, Santa Catarina Juquila became one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in Mexico after word spread about its miraculous Madonna. The 15th century statue of the Virgen de Juquila, survived a fire in 1633 that destroyed the rest of the village, and since then has been drawing faithful to ask for a miracle in exchange for promising to visit. The 30cm-tall statue is housed in a wedding cake of a church, backed by the rugged foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur.
