탐 카오 루앙 동굴

This impressive cave with its magical skylight was favourite place of prayer for King Rama VI.

About

The Tham Khao Luang Cave’s natural beauty made it a favourite of King Rama IV when he was a monk, so King Rama V commissioned a Buddha statue for the cave in honor of his predecessors. Accessed via a steep set of stairs, the cave is now a temple with nearly 200 Buddhas of various sizes. The shrine is made even more magical by its natural skylight, which fills the chamber with a golden glow during the morning sunshowers. Beware of the monkeys leading up to the caving and hanging around the entrance - they’re especially bold and will snatch things right out of your hand.
