The manor house Svaty Anton

A wealthy four-wing noble residence, inspired by the calendar, is complete with original furnishings and home to the Museum of History and Hunting

About

Built in 1744 on the site of an older castle, the Manor House in Svätý Anton is now home to the Museum of History and Hunting. Complete with a wide array of artwork, hunting trophies, and antlers, the manor’s well-preserved interior also features original furnishings including some given to Marie Antoinette by her mother, Empress Maria Theresa, as a wedding gift. The architecture of this impressive aristocratic residence represents the symbolic calendar, with four entrances, 7 arcades, 12 chimneys, 52 rooms, and 365 windows. Once used for the family’s private enjoyment, the site also features a peaceful English park through which visitors can stroll while taking in the beautiful nature surrounding this stately manor. Tours are offered in Slovak only, but English-speaking visitors can obtain a guidebook during their visit. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays from November to March, and closed on Mondays from April-June and September-October.
