With its sublime views of the lush jungle and idyllic sea, this mountaintop observatory lives up to its name.
Standing 620 metres above sea level atop Mount Silam, the Tower of Heaven brings visitors another 33 meters into the sky. Posted along the tower’s 8 story climb are informative posters about Mount Silam and Sabah, so you’ll be well informed when you reach viewing platform. From here, you’ll be treated to fantastic views of the surrounding forest, Lahad Datu town, Darvel Bay and its islands. If the colorful posters of Mount Silam’s wildlife got you excited to get into Borneo’s jungle, there are two walking trails at the base of the tower so you can experience it first hand - if you’re lucky, you might even meet the small orange crab that only lives on the mountain. Please note: the tower is open from 8AM to 5PM.
