About Paris

As can be seen on any map, Paris, the capital of France, has remained one of Europe's major cultural, historical, and business centers. It's not hard to imagine why, given that some of the world's greatest writers, musicians, designers, poets, chefs, and architects have called Paris home over the centuries. This city is beautiful, lively, and inspirational, attracting millions of visitors annually. But how did Paris become what it is today?

Paris began as a settlement founded by the Parisii, an ancient Celtic tribe, on an island in the Seine River more than 2,000 years ago. The Romans captured it in 52 BCE, renaming it Lutetia. Under Roman influence, the town flourished and expanded across the surrounding river banks. It wasn't until 987 CE that Paris became the capital of the West Frankish Kingdom under Hugh Capet.

Unfortunately, during the 1300s, the Great Plague caused significant stagnation, killing many residents. The city began to grow again in the 1500s, experiencing significant historical events like the French Revolution in the 1700s and the modernization efforts of the 1800s, which further influenced its development and global influence.

Given its rich past, it's no surprise that Paris has become the marvel it is today. When you visit, you can see its history and modernity reflected in its landmarks, attractions, historic buildings, museums, churches, and culinary delights.

There is much to see and do, so buckle up with Daytrip and journey from Mont Saint Michel to Paris to explore its many attractions. Soon, you, too, can bask in the city's romantic ambiance and enjoy an authentic French pastry while wandering from one iconic spot to another.

Below, we've shared a few of the best tips we believe you should know to ensure you experience an enchanting journey from Mont Saint Michel to Paris.

Plan everything in advance

The biggest mistake travelers make is forgetting to plan everything in advance. It's all well and good to plan a trip from Mont Saint Michel to Paris on the fly, but it will end up costing you in some form or another, whether it be on pricey transport or exorbitant accommodation. That's why booking every element of your trip beforehand is crucial to avoid potential travel-related issues.

Book restaurants in advance

When traveling from Mont Saint Michel to Paris, there are quite a few restaurants you might want to visit along the way, including Paris itself. If this is the case, you need to book a spot or make a reservation in advance.

Most restaurants in France will often take reservations by email, but it might be better to phone the restaurant to make sure you can visit during your travels. By booking restaurants in advance, you're eliminating the stress of deciding where to eat.

You can visit the Notre Dame de Louvres, a beautiful Gothic-style church, Chateau de Bizy, with its museum and quintessential French architecture, and Claude Monet's Garden at Giverny, which has some of the most beautiful scenery.

How to get from Mont Saint Michel to Paris

There is no airport in Mont Saint Michel, so you cannot take a Mont Saint Michel to Paris transfer by plane. The location of Mont Saint Michel and the short distance between the two places make air travel impractical. However, other ways exist to get to Paris, such as from this tiny island village. From Mont Saint Michel to Paris by train

From Rennes, you can take an SNCF train to Paris. This trip costs $30 to $60 (€28-€56)and takes about four to five hours. This option provides scenic views of the French countryside but involves multiple transfers, which can be cumbersome for those with heavy luggage or tight schedules.

Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train, but it won't be any easier. High-speed trains (TGV) are not directly available from Mont Saint-Michel to Paris. However, you can take a shuttle or bus from Mont Saint-Michel to Rennes and then transfer to a TGV to Paris. The total travel time is around four hours, and the costs range from $60 to $100 (€56-€93). Companies like SNCF operate these trains, which offer a fast and comfortable journey but are pricey.

Orsay Museum

Parisian travel itineraries would only be complete with a planned trip tomthe Orsay Museum. The Grand Palais boasts Beaux-Arts architecture and is famed for its colossal nave. Its immense glass roof is also of interest to most. Nowadays, the Grand Palais hosts tournaments, has several gallery areas, and is even used by Chanel for its fashion shows.

Excellent service for transfers in Thailand

I was unsure about this company but a few good reviews on Trip Advisor made me take the chance. I am so happy that we did. We needed a ride from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. Our driver Saksun was an excellent driver - it's not a long distance to drive (by Texas standards!) but the road is challenging and there are a lot of places where improvements to the road are being made. It took around 3 hours with a stop at a place with very clean bathrooms, very interesting hot springs and a place to get a snack and cold drinks. Saksun had a vehicle that was fantastic for this type of drive - a very comfortable ride indeed and was obviously well maintained and very clean. I highly recommend this company. I used to post on trip advisor as "lakekariba" but got out of the habit of doing so. This company was so easy to use and the result was so enjoyable that I felt that the company Daytrip and the driver Saksun had earned our trust and a glowing review. Excellent option to get to Vienna to Budapest!

We used Daytrip to travel between Budapest and Vienna with a 2 hour stop for lunch in Bratislava. Our driver Zsombor arrived on time at our hotel in Budapest and was very friendly and informative throughout our trip. His vehicle was roomy and clean and he was kind enough to provide us with some bottled water for the trip. Our quick visit stop in Bratislava was very nice as well. He gave us plenty of time to explore the city and have lunch before meeting him again when it was time to head for Vienna. Daytrip provided us with a happy and trouble free transfer between Budapest and Vienna. Many thanks to your team and especially to your driver Zsombor!
