About Paris

As can be seen on any map, Paris, the capital of France, has remained one of Europe's major cultural, historical, and business centers. It's not hard to imagine why, given that some of the world's greatest writers, musicians, designers, poets, chefs, and architects have called Paris home over the centuries. This city is beautiful, lively, and inspirational, attracting millions of visitors annually. But how did Paris become what it is today?

Paris began as a settlement founded by the Parisii, an ancient Celtic tribe, on an island in the Seine River more than 2,000 years ago. The Romans captured it in 52 BCE, renaming it Lutetia. Under Roman influence, the town flourished and expanded across the surrounding river banks. It wasn't until 987 CE that Paris became the capital of the West Frankish Kingdom under Hugh Capet.

Unfortunately, during the 1300s, the Great Plague caused significant stagnation, killing many residents. The city began to grow again in the 1500s, experiencing significant historical events like the French Revolution in the 1700s and the modernization efforts of the 1800s, which further influenced its development and global influence.

Given its rich past, it's no surprise that Paris has become the marvel it is today. When you visit, you can see its history and modernity reflected in its landmarks, attractions, historic buildings, museums, churches, and culinary delights.

There is much to see and do, so buckle up with Daytrip and journey from Mont Saint Michel to Paris to explore its many attractions. Soon, you, too, can bask in the city's romantic ambiance and enjoy an authentic French pastry while wandering from one iconic spot to another.

From Mont Saint Michel to Paris: travel tips

Mont Saint Michel is vastly different from Paris, and so are many of the places you might see along the way. That's why it's essential to keep up to date on the latest travel tips and trends. Below, we've shared a few of the best tips we believe you should know to ensure you experience an enchanting journey from Mont Saint Michel to Paris.

Plan everything in advance

The biggest mistake travelers make is forgetting to plan everything in advance. It's all well and good to plan a trip from Mont Saint Michel to Paris on the fly, but it will end up costing you in some form or another, whether it be on pricey transport or exorbitant accommodation. That's why booking every element of your trip beforehand is crucial to avoid potential travel-related issues.

Book restaurants in advance

When traveling from Mont Saint Michel to Paris, there are quite a few restaurants you might want to visit along the way, including Paris itself. If this is the case, you need to book a spot or make a reservation in advance.

Most restaurants in France will often take reservations by email, but it might be better to phone the restaurant to make sure you can visit during your travels. By booking restaurants in advance, you're eliminating the stress of deciding where to eat.

Remember to sightsee along the way

Sightseeing between Mont Saint Michel and Paris is a must, especially considering the awe-inspiring landmarks and attractions along the way. If you're driving with Daytrip, we'll take you along the most exciting route.

You can visit the Notre Dame de Louvres, a beautiful Gothic-style church, Chateau de Bizy, with its museum and quintessential French architecture, and Claude Monet's Garden at Giverny, which has some of the most beautiful scenery.

How to get from Mont Saint Michel to Paris

There is no airport in Mont Saint Michel, so you cannot take a Mont Saint Michel to Paris transfer by plane. The location of Mont Saint Michel and the short distance between the two places make air travel impractical. However, other ways exist to get to Paris, such as from this tiny island village. Let's have a look at them:

From Mont Saint Michel to Paris by bus

Unfortunately, few bus trips operate the route from Mont Saint Michel to Paris, but this doesn't mean they don't exist. Both BlaBlaBus and Flixbus offer occasional trips from Mont Saint Michel to Paris, and the journey takes about five to six hours.

You should also expect it to cost between $20 and $40 (€19-€37), making it quite affordable and ideal for budget travelers who can tolerate the long trip time, often uncomfortable seating, and limited amenities. Basically, if you like to travel comfortably and are on a tight schedule, bus travel might not be the way to go.

From Mont Saint Michel to Paris by train

In Europe, train travel is a go-to choice for many people, but train travel from Mont Saint Michel to Paris might not be the best option. This is because train travel between these destinations is not as simple as hopping on and hopping off at a train station.

For regional train travel, you typically need to take a bus or shuttle from Mont Saint-Michel to the nearby town of Pontorson and then a regional train to Rennes. From Rennes, you can take an SNCF train to Paris. This trip costs $30 to $60 (€28-€56)and takes about four to five hours. This option provides scenic views of the French countryside but involves multiple transfers, which can be cumbersome for those with heavy luggage or tight schedules.

Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train, but it won't be any easier. High-speed trains (TGV) are not directly available from Mont Saint-Michel to Paris. However, you can take a shuttle or bus from Mont Saint-Michel to Rennes and then transfer to a TGV to Paris. The total travel time is around four hours, and the costs range from $60 to $100 (€56-€93). Companies like SNCF operate these trains, which offer a fast and comfortable journey but are pricey.

From Mont Saint Michel to Paris by private car transfer

Getting from Mont Saint Michel to Paris by private car transfer service Daytrip is one of the best travel methods. It's convenient, time-productive, reliable, safe, and enjoyable. The company's premium luxury vehicles guarantee comfort, and you don't need to worry about any of the driving.

An English-speaking driver will pick you up in Mont Saint Michel and take you to Paris when you choose while taking care of your luggage. You can also pick their brain for travel insights along the way or sit silently while enjoying the passing French countryside scenery.

On average, a trip with Daytrip will cost about $132 (€123) per seat, and it will take only three and a half hours. This makes traveling with Daytrip the fastest and most convenient way to travel if you have the budget for a private car door-to-door service.

Things to do when you get to Paris

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is always a hive of activity with near-endless travel possibilities. Since this is the case, planning what to do when you get to the city can be immensely challenging. Luckily, that's where we come in. We've shared a few of the best things to add to your travel schedule if you're planning to drive from Mont Saint Michel to Paris soon.

Tuileries Garden

Parks might not be on every person's itinerary, especially if traveling to Paris, where there are several exciting attractions, but the Tuileries Garden is worth visiting. This is one of Paris's most famous gardens and has even been listed as a UNESCO-listed site.

The Tuileries Garden was designed by the infamous landscape artist Andre Le Notre, who was also the designer of the breathtaking Versailles gardens in the mid-17th century. Despite the park's prestige, it is open to the public, and it's the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic along the banks of the Seine River while casting your eyes upon the Louvre and Champs-Elysees Avenue.

Orsay Museum

Parisian travel itineraries would only be complete with a planned trip tomthe Orsay Museum. This spectacular museum rivals the Louvre in popularity, and many find it their favorite art museum in the world. This museum began as a railway station, which is why it is found at its desirable location along the banks of the Seine River.

The Orsay Museum is a treat for the eyes. When you visit, you can expect to be blown away by post-impressionist, impressionist, and art nouveau artworks dating back to between 1814 and 1914. There are hundreds of artworks to peruse, so ensure you plan enough time to tour the museum and get your fill of art.

Grand Palais

If architecture is your jam, you'll not want to miss out on visiting the Grand Palais. It is one of Paris's most gorgeously designed and immediately recognizable buildings. Construction on the Palais was finished in 1900, in time for the World's Fair when it debuted, and ever since, it has been an attraction that people have wanted to visit.

The Grand Palais boasts Beaux-Arts architecture and is famed for its colossal nave. Its immense glass roof is also of interest to most. Nowadays, the Grand Palais hosts tournaments, has several gallery areas, and is even used by Chanel for its fashion shows.

When is the best time to visit Paris?

Many people dream of visiting Paris, and it's within reach if you can drive from Mont Saint Michel to Paris with a private car service like Daytrip. However, knowing when to visit the city is essential, especially if it's one of your dream destinations.

Luckily, you can visit Paris at any time of the year. The city is known for being welcoming and sees visitors every single month. Most find the summer season the best time because of the blissfully warm weather, outdoor activities, and events and festivals, but the crowds aren't for everyone.

If you're looking to experience Paris when it's quieter, we recommend visiting in the spring between March and May or during the fall from September to November. These months offer significant price savings on accommodation and transportation. You'll be greeted by beautiful cityscapes with nature coming alive or dying down as the leaves turn to shades of gold. It's magical, and you deserve to experience the magic of Paris.

Transporte seguro y a precio razonable
