Akranes Lighthouse

Akranes Lighthouse actually refers to two structures - a larger building erected in 1944, and a smaller, older structure. Standing on a rocky shoreline, the two buildings cut a pretty picture. In fact, they’re so picturesque that the large building is now in the care of an amateur photographer. Inside (the smaller lighthouse is closed), you’ll be able to admire rotating art exhibitions and a photography exhibit before reaching the top floor where you can gaze across the bay - on a clear day you’ll see Reykjavík.
