Archeopark Pavlov

This well-appointed museum depicts the history of the Moravian Gravettian culture, one of the world’s most important prehistoric societies during the period of 30,000 to 22,000 B.C.

About

The society which once occupied this region was one of complex hunter-gatherers, known for their stable settlements and societies with their own internal hierarchy. It is the Moravian Gravettian culture which resembles the first and oldest known society of this type, which provides visitors to the park with a unique glimpse into this vital piece of human history. This modern museum displays not only the artifacts created and used, but also the social and symbolic structures of this fascinating society. On display is a variety of stone and bone tools, mammoth bones, and one of the oldest ensembles of human skeletal remains known to anthropology today. Also featured in the museum is evidence of technology employed by humans perhaps for the first time in history at this very site – manufacturing ceramics, weaving textiles, and grinding stones. The museum is open from April through November. Visiting hours vary depending on the time of year and can be found on the site’s website.
