Black Forest Open-Air Museum

Four hundred years of rural traditions are brought to life an idyllic setting.

About

Opened as an architectural museum, 6 historic farmhouses dating back to the 16th century were relocated here, and fully furnished with all the rustic fittings. A variety of outbuildings, such as mills, storehouses, a chapel, and a distillery were also brought in to showcase the other buildings integral to village life. Visitors will be able to experience Black Forest history directly by joining a guided tour, watching traditional crafts being practiced, and even trying some hands on activities. Throughout the year, the museum hosts special events such as an end-of-season feast, and a Christmas market.
