Czersk Castle

These nicely preserved ruins offer a trip back to the 14th century, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

About

The history of this structure dates all the back to the end of the 14th century when Czersk was the first capital of the Mazovian region (and later succeeded by Warsaw). It served many purposes throughout its time - from defensive bastion to high-security prison. In the late 18th century, during the Prussian Partition, Prussian leadership ordered the castle's walls demolished, after which it fell into disuse. Today, visitors can get the glimpse of what life must have been back in the day, or just enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding landscape.
