Housed in the Nádasdy Castle in the heart of Sárvár, the Ference Nádasdy Museum features a series of must-see permanent and temporary exhibitions.
During your visit to the Ferenc Nádasdy Museum, you will have the opportunity to learn about Hungary’s history like never before. Featuring four main exhibitions, the museum has something for everyone, and is sure to please a wide array of visitors. The museum features Europe’s only hussar exhibition, depicting the history of the hussars from the 16th century until the end of the Second World War through a series of costumes, weapons, paintings, and photos. The Carta Hungaria exhibition features 56 original maps, mostly from the 16th-17th century, the oldest of which is Pannonia’s map from 1520. The History of Sávár exhibit presents the history of the castle, the city, and the Nádasdy estate with original documents and contemporary artwork from 13th-20th centuries. Finally, the Printing and Publishing on Nádasdy Estates exhibit is based on the 16th-17th century estate prints with original publications and features the reconstruction of a contemporary printing machine.
