Fox Canyon

Cool off at the base of a waterfall in the heart of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

About

Tucked away in the Sierra de La Laguna Biosphere Reserve, Fox Canyon (Cañón de la Zorra) is an oasis away from the beaches and desert of Baja. The mountain forests are home to 70% of Baja’s mammal species, and nearly half of these can’t be found anywhere else. While you might not see any mammals, bird and reptile life abounds, especially in November when the famous Sierra La Laguna hummingbirds are roosting. Just a short, 10-minute hike up Fox Canyon brings you to a 30-foot waterfall where you can cool off and enjoy the scenery. The shallow lagoon at the top of the falls is naturally heated by the sun, so the water pouring over the cascade is actually warm! The descent to the pool is relatively steep, so proper footwear is recommended. Please note: the entrance fee is 220 pesos per person and not included in the stop price.
