Gufufoss literally translates to “Steam Falls” for the heavy mist they usually kick up. Dropping over a sheer, rock cliff into a flat river bed, they’re often compared to the more famous Skogafoss waterfall, but without the crowds. For those arriving by ferry from Denmark or the Faroe Islands, Gufufoss is often the first major waterfall visitors get to see, and it makes for a great first impression.
