Hartbeespoort Dam

The Harbeespoort Dam was built in 1923 to supply irrigation water to the surrounding farmland. The resulting lake has since become a popular destination for watersports, and has had its own yacht club since its construction. The abundant water and network of canals feed farms growing tobacco, wheat, lucerne, fruit, and flowers. A bridge over the dam provides great views of the rushing waters below (when they’re flowing), the large lake, and the greenery around it. Around the dam, you’ll find plenty of places to eat, shop, and relax - there’s even an animal park nearby!
