Le Cannet

Follow the daily inspirational rambles of Pierre Bonnard before stepping seeing an extensive collection of his work at a museum dedicated to him.

About

Le Cannet is a lovely hilltop town overlooking Cannes and the Mediterranean beyond. It was here that genius post- impressionist Pierre Bonnard gained much of his inspiration for his best works. For 22 year he would come here for lengthy stays in his Le Bosquet studio-house. After the Nazis occupied Paris, he moved here permanently to live out his days. The excellent Musée Bonnard is dedicated to his works and his life in Le Cannet. The town has set up a great trail which follows Bonnard’s daily walks in Le Cannet, taking in amazing views and inspirational buildings that fueled much of his imagination. The full trail, which includes a few steep gradients, will take you up to 2 hours, but an easier partial trail only lasts for an hour. Tour maps are available in the museum reception.
