Known for its breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, Ponta do Sossego is an unmissable viewpoint on the coast of San Miguel. You’ll be greeted by an impressive panorama of rolling hills, towering cliffs and rugged coastline, and will be able to spot Fajã do Araújo, Ponta da Madrugada and Ponta da Marquesa in the distance. The word ‘sossego” means “quiet” to reflect the serene atmosphere, speckled with green pastures and surrounded by the sounds of rustling leaves and the crashing of waves below. The viewpoint has a garden of beautiful plants, where stray cats will greet you and weave between your feet. An open barbeque spot allows you to chow down on a snack under the shade of a thatched roof, while taking in the amazing contrasts of the bright green flora with the deep blue ocean.
