Tham Chang Cave
With its own spring, this cavern was once used to hide from Chinese bandits.
Om
The Tham Chang Cave, literally meaning âloyalâ or âsteadfastâ cave, gets its name from its 19th century role as a refuge for locals hiding from Chinese Haw Bandits. Today, the cave is a well-maintained natural attraction, operated by the local resort. After crossing a bridge, visitors must climb a set of stairs to reach the cave mouth. If you need to take a break after the hike up, the blue-green waters of the of the small pool at the entrance are perfect for taking a dip. Inside the cave, colored lights illuminate both the natural ornamentation and a Buddha statue. Many of the cave formations have their own names and legends based on their shapes - keep an eye out for the elephant, naga hole, or wishing stalactite.
