This amazing cave chamber is filled with animal fossils and beautiful rock formations.
The Wonder Cave is an excellent example of the unusual geology that helped form the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. Thousands of years ago, flooding, rain waters, and bad luck trapped rodents, frogs, lizards, and birds within this limestone chamber, fossilizing their remains. The slowly dripping water has also created pools, pearls, stalactites and stalagmites, “Madonnas”, and mushroom, straw, and popcorn-shaped formations. Also living within the caves is a colony of bats, which can sometimes be seen fluttering through the colored lights. The 60 meter deep cave is only accessible on a 45 minute guided tour.
