Yehliu Geopark

A series of unique rock formations and sea caves await explorers of this turtle-shaped island.

Om

Nestled in New Taipei, the Yehliu Geopark is a sweeping cape formed at the meeting of Datun Mountain and the sea below. The area is sometimes referred to as the “Yehliu Turtle” because when viewed from above, the island appears like a half-submerged turtle. Here, a unique combination of geological events and erosion at the hands of the sea has created a stunning natural landscape of rocks that look like candles or pots, as well as massive sea trenches. Visitors can explore the three main sections of the park, each with its own named rock structures and sea-eroded caves. Some of the most notable formations include the Queen’s head and Fairy’s Shoe. Visitors should be sure to see the statue of Lin Tien Jane and read the associated story of remarkable bravery. Learn more: https://eng.taiwan.net.tw/m1.aspx?sNo=0002091&id=155
