Saranda offers excellent value with affordable accommodations and dining. A good restaurant meal costs 15-25 euros, while hotels are significantly cheaper than Western Europe. However, bring cash as card acceptance is limited outside major establishments.
Saranda is very safe with low crime rates and friendly locals known for exceptional hospitality. Standard precautions against pickpocketing in crowded areas are sufficient. Solo female travelers generally feel secure. Albanian people are famously welcoming to visitors and helpful with directions.
Beaches are mostly pebble and rocky with crystal-clear blue waters. The most beautiful beaches like Mirror Beach are 15 minutes outside town. Ksamil, 30 minutes south, offers stunning white sand beaches and is perfect for day trips from Saranda.
