Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy

This established conservation project is dedicated to the rehabilitation and rescue of native East African species, to great success over the years!

About

The Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy is a perfect destination for the animal-loving among us! Established nearly 50 years ago in Nanyuki, Kenya, the conservancy comprises several ongoing projects, including a rehabilitation effort to bring endangered species back from the brink of extinction. The sector more popular with tourists, however, will be the “animal orphanage,” a rescue effort more closely resembling a zoo. Here, wild creatures in need are given a second chance having arrived there from abuse, injury etc., and they are protected to heal before being released back to their natural habitats. Both local school groups and visiting guests from abroad can receive a passing education in wildlife conservation, fulfilling another goal of the organization’s mission - to educate and inform the youth. Don’t forget to ask one of the conservancy’s guides for the stories of individual rescue animals, as many have tales to tell!
