Muang Boran
This open air museum gives a survey of Thai architecture through the ages with replicas and originals of buildings from every era and style.
About
Created by Thai millionaire Khun Lek Viriyaphant, Muang Boran, is a huge open air museum, with 115 buildings spread out over 240 acres. Thailandâs historic sites are dotted around the country, so Viriyaphant created replicas of some of the most important, allowing visitors to experience the countryâs key landmarks. Here you can see the Rattanakosin era Dusit Maha Prasat Palace (which is in the Grand Palace in Bangkok), the Noen Prasat of Sukhothai era Wat Mahathat, and the Ayutthaya empireâs Sanphet Prasat Palace (which was destroyed during the Burmese invasion in 1767, but rebuilt according to ancient records), without having to travel hours to reach them. Thereâs even an active floating market where you can purchase souvenirs or traditional food. While itâs possible to walk the park, weâd recommend renting a bicycle to make your visit even more pleasant! For more information, please visit http://ancientcitygroup.net
