This large fort is a nice slice of history, even if it’s not fleshed out with displays.
Al Bithnah was built around 1735 to control the strategic area of Fujairah and protect the city from attackers. So perfectly positioned was the fort that up until a new road was built in the 1970s, traffic still had to pass under its watchful eye. Constructed from stone, mud-brick, adobe, and palm-wood, Fujairah’s second largest fort offers a nice look at traditional architecture, but is otherwise empty.
