Deriving from the Persian word for “treasure”, Ganja blends ancient mosques, hammams, and red-brick architecture with examples of Socialist Classicism and modern elements that magnify its fascinating history. Witness the Imamzadeh mosque and mausoleum complex, a spiritual center with roots in the 8th century, and the Nizami mausoleum, honoring the renowned Azerbaijani poet from the 12th century. The Juma Mosque, a marvel built in 1606 features red bricks and a striking white dome which can be visited during Ramadan. Art enthusiasts can take a visit to the Nizami Ganjavi Museum, filled with 542 exhibits including original manuscripts of Khamsa, or visit the unique Bottle House, a structure constructed using over 50,000 glass bottles.
