Originally inhabited by a small community of Malay fishermen, Muara now serves as the country’s primary deep-water port and holds strategic significance as part of the Maritime Silk Road. It connects the Chinese coast to Singapore, India, Kenya, and Europe, paying a vital role in maritime commerce. One of the main attractions in Muara is Muara Beach, a picturesque stretch along the South China Sea coastline. With its clear white sands and a length of approximately one mile, the beach offers a serene and inviting environment for visitors, featuring amenities such as picnic areas, a children's playground, and facilities for changing and restrooms. On weekends, food and drink stalls cater to the needs of beachgoers. Enjoy a game of volleyball or beach football at the Muara Beach Recreational Park nearby, and visit the war memorial located on the beach, honoring the amphibious assault carried out by the Australian Army during the Battle of Brunei in 1945.
