The Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Fort, also known as Riffa Fort or Qal’at ar-Riffa, has stood between the old town of East Riffa and the new town of West Riffa for hundreds of years throughout the reign of royals. The site boasts a square plan adorned with two circular and two rectangular towers positioned at the corners, with three courtyards by the northeastern tower. Throughout its history, the fort served as a residence for Sheikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh, and prominent Bahrani ruler Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa was born in a room within the northeastern tower. Beyond its architectural grandeur, the fort offers a splendid view across the Hunanaiya valley. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the fort freely during daytime, in addition to a museum with an admission ticket that showcases the fort’s rich history and features several rooms adorned with intricate architectural details.
