Tsumeb Museum

Housed in a historic building, this wonderful museum houses a multi-faceted collection of exhibits on local history and culture.

About

The Tsumeb Museum was founded in 1975 in what was originally a German school building built in 1915. Now a national monument, the museum offers a multi-disciplinary look at the history and culture of Tsumeb. In one section, you’ll learn about the history of local tribes, while another displays gemstones unearthed in the area. There are also weapons fished from Lake Otjikoto, taxidermy animals, Himba and Herero artefacts, and a variety of machinery, including a locomotive.
