Plan enough time in town

It only takes about an hour to drive from Amalfi to Sorrento, considering the towns are less than 20 miles apart. Unfortunately, even during April and October ferry trips can be canceled on short notice because of rough seas and weather, so keep this in mind. On average, a ferry trip from Amalfi to Sorrento costs about $17 to $28 one way and takes about an hour and 25 minutes.

Book a boat tour to see more of the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. A boat tour will take you to hidden coves, past rugged cliffs, and through crystal clear waters, so the ride is well worth it. Also, if you have more time, you can even take a day trip from Sorrento to the nearby island of Capri for some of the best shopping in the region.

The weather is warm, with mostly sunny days. But it's not as hot as in the summer and there are far fewer people. Both factors make exploring the town and even getting transportation much more pleasant. Prices are also a bit cheaper than in the summer.

Peak season is between June and August. These see the most visitors, who come for warm beach walks and sunny days touring ancient churches and marinas alongside frequent dips in the ocean. However, the main downside is that this is peak season, and the crowds get a bit much. Not to mention, prices can be incredibly expensive during the summer.
