Ride a bus from Positano to Ravello

A direct SITA bus departs at least once per hour from the Positano Sponda bus station. Tickets cost between $1 and $3 (€0.90-€2.60), and the trip takes approximately 40 minutes.

Traveling by bus around the Amalfi Coast can be confusing to newcomers. When traveling with SITA, you need to purchase your ticket from a corner store or at the bus station. Then, you wait in line at the bus stop and hope that the next bus has enough space for you and your travel companions. In some instances, the bus is already full and skips stops, especially during the summer.

Take a ferry from Positano to Ravello

Ravello is inland; however, you can take a ferry from Positano to Amalfi and then transfer to a bus or taxi from Amalfi up to Ravello.

The ferry ride takes 15 to 30 minutes and costs $12 (€10.75). They depart every 20 minutes from Positano during the peak travel season. From Amalfi, a SITA bus leaves around every half hour and costs $1 to $3 (€0.90-€2.60).

Ravello’s Villa Rufolo

Villa Rufolo is where Richard Wagner, the German composer, took inspiration for his work. It is easy to see why! Villa Rufolo has stunning terraces and gardens perched on the edge of a cliff. Piazza Duomo (or Piazza Centrale) is the center of life in Ravello. After all of those hills and stairs from your tours of the villas, stop here for lunch and coffee on one of its many restaurant patios.

Duomo di Ravello (Ravello Cathedral) sits on Piazza Duomo and was built in the 11th century. If you visit at the height of summer, line your trip up with events from the Ravello Festival (Wagner Festival). It is a cumulation of dance shows, jazz concerts, and orchestra performances that take place 3 to 4 times a week during July and August.
