Cathedral of Guarda
This Gothic house of god offer a unique blend of architecture, and access to the roof to revel in the panoramic views.
Om
Construction began in 1390, but it took over 150 years for the cathedral to be completed. Stylistic changes were made to the cathedral as it progressed, ultimately creating one of the countryâs most recognisable, with its combination of Gothic and Manueline architecture. The heavy, granite facade is embellished with Manueline elements. The interior is an example of medieval austerity, foregoing stained glass, a gilded woodwork in favor of a massive retable carved from stone. A staircase leads visitors to the roof where they can enjoy spectacular views of the city.
