Creil
Creil is one of Flevoland's ten "green villages" that emerged from the polders, or land reclamation projects, in 1953. It now flourishes with tulip fields.
Om
Creil is on land reclaimed from the former Zuiderzee sea and is now home to some of the largest tulip fields in the Netherlands. It is one of Flevoland's ten designated "green villages." This planned community began construction in 1953, and Creil takes its name from a former coastal village and woods that once existed where the IJsselmeer now lies. Today, approximately 1,700 residents call this agricultural community home, where the surrounding landscape transforms each spring into a spectacular patchwork of colorful bulb flowers. The village celebrates this heritage with its annual Bloembollen Vakdagen Flevoland competition between local growers. It is also possible to take helicopter rides over the tulip fields in the spring.
