Kirchheim unter Teck
At the heart of this modern city, visitors will find a historic center that has been preserved through the centuries.
Om
Founded by Duke Konrad I von der Teck in the 13th century, the town steadily grew through the centuries. In 1538, the castle was built, attracting even more merchants, civil servants, and soldiers. A major fire in 1690 destroyed much of the town. Because of this disaster, the townâs historic center is now home to many half-timbered houses that were built as part of the reconstruction. Walking down the cobbled streets, visitors will also be treated to views of the town walls and bastions, the Gothic church of St. Martin, The Renaissance castle, ad in the town square, the famous half-timbered town hall, with its cassette ceiling and âmoonphaseâ clock. The half-timbered Max-Eyth-Haus houses the literary museum and visitors office. Here, a flyer outlines the 'Historical sightseeing walk', with a special smartphone app that gives a sneak peek into some of the buildings.
