Kloster Kreuzberg
A site of pilgrimage for 600 years, today the "Holy Mountain of the Franks" attracts another type of follower - the beer drinker.
Om
Considered the âHoly Mountain of the Franksâ since 686 when St. Kilian and his companions traveled through the area, Kreuzberg has a long tradition as a place of pilgrimage. In the 15th century, this was marked by a simple cross, but a chapel was built in 1598, and the monastery seen today constructed in the late 17th century. In an aesthetic balancing act, monastic austerity and baroque elements are housed in harmony in the church. For many, however, the main attraction isnât the baroque artwork, or the great views, but the beer brewed on site by the monks. Not available anywhere else, many consider it the best beer in the world. And if youâre truly smitten, they also sell it to go! Photo credit Bbb
