Netherlands
This exceptional military museum’s collection includes everything from paintings to medieval weaponry to jet fighters to create a story-like experience.
Housed in a former air base, the National Military Museum combined the collections of the Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg and the Army Museum in Delft to create an all-encompassing look at weaponry in the Netherlands. In the collection, visitors will find Stone Age arrowheads and medieval swords sharing space with the Dutch armed forces most cutting-edge technologies. Some particular highlights include a V2 rocket, a diorama of seven jet fights caught in a dogfight, and the only M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System left in the country. In the museum’s 45 hectare grounds, visitors can also see the oldest aviation building in the country, as well as many larger museum objects.
