Rising above 3,200 acres of forest, the rock dome of Stone Mountain, GA offers an exciting variety of attractions. Take the “Skyride” tram from the base to the peak for amazing views, hike the forests at the mountain’s base, or visit the Antebellum Plantation to see what life was like in the 19th century. However, Stone Mountain’s most famous feature is also one of the most controversial: the nation’s largest Confederate monument and its ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Regardless of the politics, the enormous carving is perhaps the most unique attraction in the state. The carvings of President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J.
