Yes, meaningfully so. The Presena Glacier sits above 3,000 m (9,842 ft) and is one of the few places in the Alps where you can ski on a genuine glacier. This translates into a longer season, more consistent snow quality, and runs that are noticeably different in character from lower-altitude pistes. Every summer, the glacier is covered with large white sheets to slow ice melt, making it a visible and striking symbol of both the resort's commitment to snow and the broader conversation around alpine glacier preservation.
A full day is the right amount of time. Most visitors spend 6 to 8 hours on the mountain, which is comfortably enough to ski a wide range of runs, ride up to the Presena Glacier, and take in the views. Arriving early gives you the best snow conditions and first access to the glacier lifts. Because it is a single, well-connected resort rather than a sprawling multi-village area, you won't waste time navigating between locations.
For a day trip, it is by far the most practical option. Public transport to the pass involves multiple connections and is not designed for day-trip schedules. Driving yourself means navigating steep mountain roads in potentially icy conditions, finding parking at a busy resort, and then driving back after a full day on the slopes.
