Consider when to travel
Sorrento may not be as busy as other cities dotted along the Amalfi coast. But it's still the gateway to the Amalfi Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site, which sees 5 million annual visitors.
As such, the roads and buses can be extremely crowded. Travel during the weekdays if possible, as even locals flock here on the weekends. Also, avoid rush hours from 6:30â10 a.m., 12:30â1:30 p.m., and 4:00â8:30 p.m. Otherwise, you could drastically increase the time of the journey.
### Plan your stops
If you are getting from Positano to Sorrento by car, it means you are traveling along Amalfi Drive. And that means that you will pass through many viewpoints, historical sites, green scenery, and many more. Take advantage of your freedom by visiting Mount Vesuvius, Cantina del Vesuvio, Pompeii, or the Herculaneum Archaeological Area. SITA Sud runs a public bus from Positano to Sorrento. This is the most economical way to travel, and you can get tickets at most newsstands. However, during the peak holiday season, the buses can get quite crowded, and buying a ticket doesn't guarantee you a seat. Since you might not be by the window, you risk missing out on the scenic views. You'll also miss out on sightseeing, and have to put up with being jostled on a crowded bus.
### From Positano to Sorrento by ferry
From spring to early autumn you can take a ferry from Positano to Sorrento to enjoy views of the dramatic Amalfi Coast from the water. There are four different ferry services operating daily and the average cost for a 20-minute ferry ride is around 45 euros. âVi visste inte vad vi skulle förvĂ€nta oss av denna resa och bokade frĂ„n Australien. Vi letade frĂ„n början efter ett enkelt sĂ€tt att resa frĂ„n Granada till Malaga.
