To those who visit Gubbio's Piazza Grande, it's one of the grandest in the world. This Piazza looks much the same as it used to when it was built in the 14th century. So why not visit it when in Gubbio and enjoy the ambiance of feeling like you've stepped back in time?
When is the best time to visit Gubbio?
Unsurprisingly, Gubbio has a Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers and mild winters, so it can be visited year-round. Although it can be visited any time of year, if you're traveling from Rome to Gubbio, the best time to visit is usually between May and October. These months offer warm weather with temperatures around 69°F (20.5°C) and very little rain.
But if we had to pick only one month, we would suggest May. Not only is the weather nice, but the city also hosts a candle festival or the Festa dei Ceri, which is one of the best local festivals in the region. This festival has been underway since the 12th century and takes place typically around the 15th of May every year in honor of Sant'Ubaldo, the patron saint of the city in Umbria.
