Depart from Faro and head into the rolling hills to Quinta da Tor. Spend two hours wandering through sun-drenched vineyards and sampling the estate's bold wines and regional flavors. The journey continues to Alte, a village widely considered one of the most traditional in Portugal. Along the way, the route offers a stop at the historic Castelo de Loulé for a photo of its medieval battlements and a passage through the peaceful, elevated landscapes of Cerro do Guilhim, before a comfortable return to Faro.

Quinta da Tor is a traditional Portuguese estate producing organic wines, olive oil, and local products using sustainable methods. The quinta offers authentic tastings, farm tours, and insight into traditional Algarve agricultural practices.
Alte features whitewashed houses, cobblestone streets, natural springs, and traditional Algarve architecture. The village maintains authentic Portuguese culture with local crafts, traditional restaurants, and scenic countryside surroundings largely untouched by tourism.
You'll spend 2 hours at Quinta da Tor exploring the estate, wine cellars, and tastings, followed by 3 hours in Alte to wander the village streets, visit local shops, and enjoy traditional cuisine.
The estate produces organic red and white wines using indigenous Portuguese grape varieties, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and traditional preserves. Tastings include locally made cheese, bread, and seasonal products from the farm.
Alte features natural spring-fed pools perfect for swimming, walking trails through almond groves, and scenic viewpoints over the Algarve countryside. The village's fonte pequena and fonte grande springs provide refreshing natural swimming areas.
The village maintains traditional pottery making, basket weaving, and tile painting crafts. Local artisans create authentic Algarve ceramics, textiles, and decorative items using centuries-old techniques passed down through generations.
Almond blossoms typically appear from late January through March, creating spectacular white and pink flower displays throughout the countryside. This period offers some of the most beautiful landscape photography opportunities in the region.
