After arriving in Torun, you'll have the freedom to explore the old town and Copernicus sites before continuing on to Malbork, where you can tour the Teutonic Castle’s massive halls, all at your leisure. Meanwhile your driver will wait for you nearby, ensuring a stress-free return trip.
With its picture-perfect setting on the Vistula River and much of the medieval city walls still remaining, Torun is one of those towns that visitors just love to wander around. The old town is chock-full of exquisite medieval buildings, statues, restaurants, café bars as well as the charming town hall, which along with the everyday hustle and bustle, simply oozes atmosphere. Take a walk around the cobblestone streets and immerse yourself in the charm of this medieval market town. Besides the incredible architecture and buildings, Torun can also boast that it is the birthplace of Copernicus (the astronomer who placed the sun, rather than the earth, at the center of the universe) who has his own statue in the town and a university named in his honor. The town is also famous throughout Poland for its gingerbread, made there since the thirteenth-century and a treat every visitor should try.

This thirteenth-century castle was originally home to the Teutonic Knights and became the seat of the Teutonic order. The castle has been undergoing continuous renovations over the last 230 years following wars in the Middle Ages and most recently the Second World War where over 50% of the castle was destroyed. However, with its drawbridges, high walls and grand halls with vaulted ceilings, Malbork is still an impressive sight. Places to watch out for include the dormitories, chapels and a refectory for the order’s ruling monks. This is a castle that will delight history buffs with its weapons displays and the sheer range of exhibits. If precious stones are your thing then there are extensive amber exhibits dating back to Teutonic times. Despite the castle’s size, time soon flies as you make your way around this vast edifice and slip into the past only to realize that the hours have slipped away. The allocated 90 minutes will be enough for the visitors to take a stroll around the complex, view the yards, grab a coffee, etc. If you wish to take a tour of the castle, we suggest adding another 60-75 minutes to your visit.
