Ferries and trains from Bellagio to Verona

Using mass transit for this route can be tricky. It requires flexibility and research ahead of time to manage all of the necessary transfers. Before traveling to Verona on mass transit, account for the following:

• The time of day you plan to depart: don’t miss the last train or ferry!
• The day of the week: weekends have fewer connections!
• The weather: ferries may be delayed or canceled in unsafe conditions!
• Luggage and strollers: multiple transfers can quickly become tiresome!

Bellagio does not have a train station, so you will need to take a bus or ferry to Como to catch any major train connections. This takes approximately one hour.

Once you are docked at the Como ferry terminal, walk 15 minutes to the train station to catch the next train to Milan. The ride will last around 50 minutes.

In Milan, transfer to one of the many high-speed trains going to Verona. This ride takes one hour and 20 minutes.

Castelvecchio

This 14th-century fortress used to guard Verona, but now it guards an impressive art collection and great views of the city. It was the most powerful military installation in the region, and its boxy red-brick style sits in direct contrast to the rest of Verona’s romantic allure. The attached Castelvecchio Bridge held the record as the world's largest bridge arch during its completion in 1356, spanning 159.8 ft (48.7 m). The original bridge was destroyed by German troops as they fled Verona in 1945, but it was painstakingly replicated shortly after.
